Leaf Confetti
Paper confetti is fun—but not so fun for the environment. Make your own confetti by using hole punches (they come in a variety of fun shapes).
It’s safe for wildlife, so toss that confetti up in the air and celebrate the fact that there’s no need to clean up!
Creating a Butterfly Garden
The monarch butterfly population is dwindling - but there are ways to help! Even if you only have a small outdoor space, planting milkweed and nectar plants can provide monarch caterpillars and butterflies with the nutrients they need to survive. And this is a great activity to do with kids. When they see that first caterpillar or butterfly in or around the garden, the excitement they experience is truly special. What a fun way to make a difference!
Choose a spot that gets mostly sun
Plant several milkweed plants (more than one species, if possible) that are native to your area
Plant flowers that provide nectar to pollinators
Watch for monarchs and other butterflies and bees as they discover your garden!
